I am certain that one of the keys to reinventing the American science classroom is creativity. There is no better mascot for creative science than Ms. Frizzle of The Magic School bus.
Just Call Me Ms Frizzle started out as a way for me to keep track of the lesson plans and pieces of advice given to me as a pre-service Masters student at Columbia University Teachers College as well as any current events and other relevant resources. It’s turned out to be my resource for collecting and sorting teaching ideas and resources as well as a place to journal thoughts and record significant moments throughout the school year.
My teaching philosophy is best put by Mother Jones, early 20th Century coal mining union supporter, “My teachers treated me as a diamond in the rough, someone who needed smoothing.” I believe all students have potential.
