Charity:Water is an organization that provides people in under developed countries with clean drinking water. They’ve even got a project for students to raise money for wells to be dug near schools in those areas. I’m working on a geology lesson plan that includes this project…stay tuned…

  1. I worked as a volunteer in Southeastern Spain for a short while. The project was looking into what plants would grow in arid areas, ways of moving water without big overheads – that kind of thing.

I recall a pump that worked on the flow of a river. It operated a see-saw that pumped water uphill. Low cost initial cost, no running costs.
